SEO Cheat Sheet – 10 Basic SEO Principles

As the Internet becomes more and more competitive and millions of sites are emerging every day, it becomes really crucial for you to have your posts and articles optimized for search engines. You need traffic to stay I business, and free traffic is the best kind of traffic!

Here are a few basic principles for Search Engine Optimization of your blog or website. Use it as a “cheat sheet”, it’s not intended to be a complete reference manual.

  1. Include your main keywords or phrase in your domain name.
  2. Include your main keywords or phrase in many different variations in your blog post names or website article subjects.
  3. Include your main keywords or phrase in your <title> tag.
  4. Include your main keywords or phrase in your <h1> tag (ideally you should only have one <h1> tag).
  5. Include your main keywords or phrase in the first 50 words of your content (not counting header tags).
  6. Include your main keywords or phrase at least once every 100 words in your content text (i.e. Keyword density of at least 1%).
  7. Include your main keywords or phrase in your internal links.
  8. Use good, original content for your blog posts or website articles.
  9. Build as many one-way incoming links as you can, especially from good sites.
  10. Reciprocal links are also good to have but are not as powerful as one-way links.

It’s definitely recommended that you Google the subject and learn as much as you can about it, it’s really well worth the effort.
